  • What Is It? A weather phenomenon appearing as a glowing blue-violet plasma on pointed objects (such as ship masts, church steeples, or aircraft propellers) during thunderstorms.
  • Physics Principle: Scientifically, it is a corona discharge. A strong atmospheric electric field ionizes the air molecules surrounding sharp or pointed objects.
